Ratidzo is currently a medical doctor at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Blantyre, Malawi. Her attention has always been drawn to sidelined issues such as menstruation. Menstruation is a topic that is shied away from because it is not deemed ‘socially acceptable’ to discuss openly. She has had the privilege of being exposed to the theoretical side of reproductive education as well as the social side and the dire consequences of poor reproductive health management. Along with her like minded team members with a common goal of eradicating period poverty, she believes that with a united front it is possible.
Tinashe is an Accountant who is driven by the passion to change the community around him. He has a desire of leading other men towards issues that have been less familiar to the masculine community such as Menstrual Health. His goal is that one day, all men can view female menstruation without any bias and have an understanding of how the lack of sanitary wear is a threat to our society. With interests in Financial Management and Investments, he hopes to use his financial acumen to the best interests of Chengetai.
Rumbidzai is a Physiotherapist who graduated from the Netherlands with a BSc. ( Hons) Physiotherapy degree in 2021. She is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in Wales. She has a keen interest in all things health. Rumbidzai’s desire to work so closely with women’s health was first sparked when she learned of the disparities that came with being a woman within healthcare. When she is not working, Rumbidzai enjoys being outdoors and will usually be found on long walks, running, hiking or cycling.
Tafadzwa is a Business Analyst who is passionate about female empowerment and creating opportunities for women to be financially independent. A believer in women emancipation which is catalysed by educating the girl child. Therefore, the Chengetai initiative is important in ensuring that no school days are missed because of menstruation.A foodie who enjoys both eating and cooking.
Kudzai is a Business Studies graduate with a diverse professional background having worked with a variety of early stage growing businesses across HR, Talent and Operations. Outside of work, driven by his desire to make a positive impact, Kudzai hopes that by being part of Chengetai, he will help in changing the narrative around male involvement with initiatives focused on empowering women and promoting sustainable development across menstrual hygiene management. He believes Chengetai will eventually pave the way for the next generation of future female leaders, not only in Zimbabwe but in Africa as a whole.
Nyasha is a medical doctor, currently based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. She believes empowered women empower other women and this makes her so passionate about Chengetai. In her own words, Nyasha believes that what makes Chengetai special is that, “There is also men empowering women and fixing their crowns. Educating and supporting women on menstrual health and hygiene is one of the key tools in boosting their confidence in all aspects of life, especially at school for the young ladies. An educated lady is definitely a powerhouse and being part of Chengetai has enabled us to create many powerhouses and we want to continue doing so.” She enjoys family time, travelling, watching football and she loves babies.
Tatenda is a final year Psychology & Counselling degree student. She is the perfect mix of outgoing and reserved with a heap of light heartedness and has an abundant love for sunsets. She is a strong advocate for community health in all aspects and also passionate about involving herself in work that enriches underprivileged marginalised communities. She is part of Chengetai because of her strong appreciation of the significance of empowering women right from community level by providing them with resources and equipping them with necessary skills to attain economic independence.
